The first two weeks after sprouting are the most delicate period in a plant’s life. Seedlings raised from pot seeds need gentle light, mild warmth, and a lightly moist medium, since their small root systems cannot cope with heavy watering or strong fertilizer. Stretching toward a distant lamp produces weak, elongated stems. Once several sets of true leaves have formed, the plant becomes far more tolerant of normal care.
